Felipe Vergara (Founder and Chair)
Mr. Vergara has launched four companies in the education and finance industries. He received his MBA in finance from Wharton before joining McKinsey & Company as a consultant in their New York office.
Felipe was recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Schwabb Social Entrepreneur in 2011, by Ashoka as a Leading Social Entrepreneur and Global Fellow in 2006, elected as an Endeavor Entrepreneur in 2009, and named one of America’s 25 Most Promising Social Entrepreneurs by Business Week in 2009.
Felipe holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad De Los Andes in Colombia. He is fluent in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese, and has an advanced level of Italian and German.
In parallel to his work with Primera Languages, Mr. Vergara is also the co-founder of Lumni Inc., a system of sustainable investment in human capital that allows talented young people of low income to receive a college education.
Jonathan Blazon (Business Partner, Board of Directors)
Educator and Entrepreneur, with two decades of international experience in language instruction and organizational management, Mr. Blazon has designed and delivered training solutions for fortune 500 companies across Europe, Asia, Latin America and the USA. Since joining Primera in 2004, he has worked in various management roles, contributing his academic expertise to the development and growth of the company. Jonathan’s multi-cultural background has been the source of his life-long passion for languages and teaching.
Ana Maria Gil (Administrative Director)
Ana is an Industrial Engineer by training. She has extensive experience as a consultant for companies in the financial sector looking to transform internal business processes. She also has a background working in the financial sector and as a MIS Manager.
Paola Palmieri (Academic Program Manager),
Paola has a master’s degree in foreign languages and a bachelor’s degree in Business management. She has worked with international students for over ten years. She is passionate about teaching, cultural diversity, and an advocate for blended learning. Paola has experience teaching in language institutes, colleges, and corporations. In addition, she has worked as a linguist specialist and translator for government agencies
Yenny Gómez (Academic Program Manager)
Yenny Gomez holds a bachelor degree in Modern Languages from the University of Los Andes in Bogotá. She has worked for Primera teaching and translating for several years and has taught both Spanish and English for more than 6 years. She has coordinated academic areas and helped in the creation of an online curriculum for the Javeriana University. At the Centro Colombo Americano in Bogota, she was in charge of teacher training and curriculum.
